Jabberwocky: Glorious Nonsense!

hey y'all,

do you ever get the feeling that when you're talking, people are just tolerating your jibber jabber ... simply waiting for you to finish?

i get that a lot. believe me, i KNOW i have the gift of gab. but lately, i've made a conscious effort to scale back my jabberwocky and listen more. it's not an easy thing for me.

but when i'm less chatty, i'm asked "what's wrong? you're too quiet!"

sigh.

anyhow, since this is MY blog, i'm going to continue all manner of jabberwocky ... as much as i like. i once told someone, somewhere, at sometime when (s)he complained about my writing style, "it's my blog. no one's pointing a gun to your head, making you read it." sheesh. i must've been slightly hormonal that day.

one, two! one, two! and through and through
the vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
he left it dead, and with its head
he went galumphing back.
*

ummm, which reminds me of an internet article i read this week. a reporter who maintains a private blog decided to vent about her dreadful mother-in-law therewith. actually, it wasn't even her blog. it was a friend's blog and she was "careful" to change names, etc. she still got busted and the family was, naturally, rather disgruntled.

he took his vorpal sword in hand:
long time the manxome foe he sought —
so rested he by the tumtum tree,
and stood awhile in thought.
*

i had mixed feelings about the story, because well, i like to vent on my blog and i certainly believe in freedom of speech. however, i know how ... er ... touchy family dynamics can be. especially in-law situations (do NOT step on those damn mome raths!).

at this point in my life, parents-in-law aren't a factor. but who KNOWS what i might write if they did exist and a situation presented itself. i shudder to think!

"the jaws that bite! the claws that catch!"*

where am i going with this rant of mine? no where in particular, except this: there's always so much on my mind that i want to write about but don't, because it doesn't necessarily fit into my blog description of "my obsession with vintage junking ... and more!"

i suppose this is the ... and more! part. so heads up: there may be more ... and more! to follow in future blogs. but at the heart of it all will still be my junking adventures (and misadventures!) and all the awesome vintage treasures that come my way.

♪♫♪♫’Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
♪♫♪♫ *

while schlepping around last weekend, i ran into the mad hatter at a church rummage sale and bought this pink one from him. the hats were owned by a dear lady (who i knew) who passed away ... and so it has special meaning.

revved up the ol' glue gun this morning and got to work on her. used vintage flowers, vintage lace, vintage costume jewelry.

close up of the flowers. sooo pretty!

the back of the hat. i used an old, old little pink clip-on bow tie (with a pearl) to finish off the hat. am pleased with the finished product. judy and ruth, i hope y'all are just as pleased too. i'm calling it "the carolyn". :)

love and hugs,
terry lee (lost in bloggerland)

Hey Terry Lee, long time no see. i miss you all, never time to blog any more, just little comments in a blog or two. You are turning into quite a Sue, which I mean as a compliment since i want to be her when I grow up. The collages are really awesome. Where do you put all those treasures you get and create? The reason I'm asking is because I have been trying to move my stuff from the old house into the new one and it won't fit, so i have made countless trips to GW and I'm still packing. I can't even bring myself to think about moving the shop in the next couple of weeks. I think I'm a hoarder. People that love me justify my behavior by telling me "at least you have a store" to that I say "yeah right" there is no acceptable explanation to what make us want all this things. Lately I have to be content by reading about all your adventures in junkland. I have not shop in months and I need a fix badly. For now I just be happy to look at your pretties. Blessings, Marta.

terry lee...you and marta crack me up. i miss texas....and no you do not talk to much. you have that elegant sense of southern gab with a twist. i love it. i also blah, blah, blah...if i don't...i get the same..."why so quiet". whatever. i call it like i see it. i wear my gab on my sleeve. can't help it. i was raised by wolves.
love the hat. you just chat. go on cat....that is that.
hang in there and keep writing and writing. i like a blog that has continuity. i do. i don't just want to hear how perfect a day is or how many perfect things a blogger made this perfect day...give me dirt. give me reality....give me freedom...whatever in the heck that means>???
take care lady.

I LOVE CHATTY!!!!!!!!!!! I love your writing style. It is fluid, flows well, clever, entertaining, and well written-(unlike this sentence). Anyway, you know my only complaint is that you don't post more often and I say that just cause I'm greedy and need a Terry Lee fix more often. I love what you did with the hat! You are so talented-hat decorator, collage maker, and a good blog author. Have a great week!

Oh I'm happy you're gonna be doing more jabbering along with your exquisite finds. Of course I love looking at all the things you find but much more love just reading the thoughts of Terry Lee. Love you, Mollye
