hey y'all,
am keeping it short and sweet today. :-) honestly.
breaking from the past two days of being thankful for
people, i decided to throw a curve ball at you today.
as many of you know, i'm an avid reader (and writer). i
love books. reading is one of my
very favorite things to do (right up there with junking!!). what a blessing it is to curl up in bed each night with a great read. oh, and my hubby too. ;-)
i'm thankful i have a
passion for reading because a good book nourishes your mind ... and your soul.

What an interesting post! And I mean the good kind of "interesting"-not the "hmmm interesting" ya know what I mean? I haven't read a book since I was pregnant with my 27 year old son-I want to be able to read the whole thing through and I always get interrupted. Can you believe I've never read/seen "Gone With the Wind"? I do remember Louisa May Alcott-loved it. If we are talking about thankful for things today I'm going to say I am thankful for my Vintagesue boxes!!!!
dana...you crack me up!! terry lee...ron just told me tonite that he has never seen gone with the wind. what? okay...even i've seen that and i'm from the north.
i was such a good reader in college, but since the kiddos came around, i suck. the last 2 books i read were about autism. good books....look me in the eye and born on a blue day, but i don't read much anymore.
i do i do i do...LOVE, LOVE john irving...A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY (did i spell right?) such a good book. i did read to kill a mockingbird in HS and yes...i pretty much got thru the books w/o cliff notes. i miss reading, but i have sooo many other things to do now, i have pushed it out of my life for a while.

i'm thankful for really old books that are falling apart. zoey told me...i'm not making this up...that santa is going to bring me more books like the old ones stacked up by the fireplace. ron told me that is right and we can throw them into the fire as kindling (is that what it is called?)....

I can certainly identify with this post because I am also an avid reader. It's an addiction, to tell you the truth. I can hardly walk out of a bookstore without buying a book. I have at least a dozen books on my desk just waiting to be read but I keep buying others that I want to read first. "The Catcher in the Rye" is one of my favorite books, too.
Oh I love to read too, and Gone With The Wind is one of my fav's. So think today I'll give thanks for the old movies, the ones with Clark Gable,Vivian Leigh,Betty Davis,Joan Crawford and so many more of the wonderful legends of hollywood. I love watching these old movies and have spent many a evening munching popcorn while watching them. Hagd!! Hugs,Betty.
As a librarian, it's MANDATORY that I love to read :-) but actually my love of reading started as a child. Does anyone remember the Summer Weekly Reader Club -- where you got a book a month? I thought it was heaven that a book would come to me! Now I love Amazon for the same reason...
...although there's nothing quite like a stroll through the dusty stacks of a library. Or even a stroll through the stacks of a clean bookstore. I just love the SMELL of books.
Even though I am a librarian by day, I don't read a lot of the stuff I buy for my school. I do read lots of reviews, however, of those books. One day - several years ago -- a student asked if I had read every book in the library! Would that I live long enough to do so.
Terry has listed a lot of my favorites, but I also love and have read everything by Jane Austen. She's one of my all time faves.
Since I am off all of the upcoming holiday week, I plan a trip (by myself!) to B&N where I will indulge in a flavored coffee and browse the stacks -- perhaps buying something with the gift card my dear sister gave my for my October birthday!
