New Junking Haunt + Easy Project = Tuesday Post

hey y'all,

i know, i don't normally post on a tuesday, but since i have a couple of things to share ... and because i like to be unpredictable sometimes ... here we go!

first, i'd like to thank jamie over at him, me and our three for cluing me in to a new junking stop! although it embarrasses the hell out of me to admit it, this "new" place is IN. MY. HOME. TOWN. yes, folks, right here under my very own ski-sloped nose.

jamie (who lives locally) asked me in a recent email if i was planning a weekend trip to paply's. whaaa?!?! all i could think of was that either she'd lost her mind and thought i was someone else ... or I'D lost my mind and was not who i thought i was.

i mean, really. what. THE. hell. is. a. paply's?!?

this is where and when you put your god-given interweb skills to work. google google google.

did you mean pappy's?!

arghh. no, i did not mean pappy's. i mean paply's. you heard me right the first time.

guess what?! there IS a paply's in town and it's. an. antique. mall!!!! after skimming the search results, i realized that it's the former oma's flea market ... for those of you who remember that place.

so on sunday afternoon, after catching the latest chick-flick (back-up plan) with pal bonnie, we decided to check out paply's, which is open 7 days a week.

the owners are mike and brenda paply (of all things!) and were vendors before purchasing the business and turning it into an inside antique mall about a year ago. it still amazes me how someone like me could NOT know about something like this, so nearby (yes, i asked her about their advertising habits ...).

the mall has 30 vendors (with a waiting list!!) with over 5000 square feet of showroom space. pretty cool.

bon and i felt like kids in a candy shop, having never been there before ... everything was new to us. antiques, shabby loveliness, vintage hats (two of which came home with me!) ...

this one! notice its beads dangling all the way around. gorgeous!!

and this one! sooo lovely!

... vintage linens, furniture, dishes ... well, almost anything you might want, if you're someone like me (and that's all that matters, right? heh heh).

most vendors had sales going on for mother's day ... 10% up to 50% off. and some of them had such gorgeous displays. they really know how to show their wares!

i discovered this v. sweet white wicker shelf that is perfect for my new shabby white wicker office! to make the deal sweeter, it was 50% off an already low price! love it.

at home, shelves already filled!

close up ... my sweet lil clock collection

also found this sweet baby, half off:

love, love, love the black lid with the pink sugar bowl!

okay, enough blah blah about that. just wanted you central texans to know about my latest discovery. check it out when you get a chance. tell 'em terry lee sent you and you'll get a 75% discount. haha. not really. ;-)

finally, i wanted to show y'all a quick and easy project i started (and finished) yesterday. 'member the vintage suitcases i bought recently at the GW bargain barn? well, here are two of them that i painted pink, added some vintagesue ribbons, a couple of vintage doilies and a killer rose ... stacked them beside the loveseat for a v. sweet end table.

happy tuesday! who knows when or what i'll post next!

hugs,
terry lee

Two Lips

hey y'all,

just a quick post to say happy valentine's day and to share a lil love with y'all. sadly, the only junkin' i've been able to do lately is in my heart. yep, still moving in slo-mo around here and it's fixin' to get the better of me.

i'm reminding myself of that old hee-haw song ... gloom, despair and agony on me. waaaaaa!! deep dark depression, excessive misery ... waaaaaaaa!! y'all 'member that?

okay, i'm not that bad. yet. but if this foot doesn't heal so that i can get some junkin' in soon, i will be. waaaaaaa!!

but, umm, happy valentine's day y'all! in honor of all things lovey dovey, here are some pics that brighten my spirits ... and i hope they make you happy, too.

love and hugs,
terry lee

all you need is love ... all you need is love ... love is all you need. sweet little sign on easel says it all.

great little heart, a vintagesue creation

precious heart collage (by sue, duh)

tarnished silverware sitting pretty inside an old rosy pitcher

yes. yes i do!

i love kisses. especially if they're filled with caramel! :-) sweet wedding photo of a couple in love, long long ago. i'm sure they lived happily ever after. whatever.

my lovely pink two lips, er, tulips. thanks, dear hubby o' mine! love 'em!

a valentine i made for the aforementioned hubby o' mine. wrote the poem and crafted the card ... all. by. my. self.

Perpetually Pink

hey y'all,

keeping it short and sweet today. i continue to limp around on this game foot of mine (the dreaded plantar fasciitis). i guess it's time to call The Man and stop trying to heal thyself. i mean, my self. thanks for all the kind words, good thoughts and prayers.

in the absence of junking, i continue with my pink-themed posts. so here are yet more pink lovelies just sitting around my house looking all pretty.

on my mantel. i keep this vintage pink ornie on display all year.

mantel centerpiece

i usually buy books to read, but this one was purely for display. how cool is this!?

my birdies in and around their crusty cage

giant shadow box that i painted pink and filled with sweetness

this sweet shutter was found pink. i barely dusted it before i plopped it up on the piano and added the lil wall pocket from sue.

pretty pink ladies adorning my piano

more of them

love this vintage photo collage made by sue. she put old nails across the bottom, from which i hung sweet little miniature shoe ornies ... all gifts from pal jannetta.

precious, precious angel. bought her from sue ages ago. love the pinkness with gold highlights ... and those feather wings!! and three sweet little, er, pearls in her lap.

candleabra from jannetta, on my foyer table, surrounded by paris-themed pretties

i remember having to ask specially to buy this hand model. it had NFS (the dreaded three letters we buyers are loathe to see!!) on it. but eventually, i sweet-talked the lady into selling it to me. i'm sure she laughed all the way to the bank. but i was thrilled to have it!

a hat trick of sweet pink hat boxes!

an old watering can painted pink (from sue's booth). paris sign from her as well.

found this old, worn bible at a recent estate sale. couldn't resist it because it reminded me of my grandmother's old bible. placed a pink rose on it and called it a day.

love and hugs to y'all,
terry lee

Memories in Pink

hey y'all,

i don't typically jump on band wagons of any sorts, but if i don't, i won't have much to post about this weekend.

my foot has been giving me the devil this week. my plantar fasciitis has been acting up (from an old football injury ... heh heh) and if any of you have had this lovely condition, you know how painful it can be. it's all but incapacitated me for several days now.

so as much as i'd love to go out junking (yes, even in this freezing, icky weather this weekend), i'm stuck at home, icing and heating my offending foot.

i guess this is the price i pay for over-junking. wait. is that really possible?! hard to believe one can over-junk. but ax my hubby and he'll have a different opinion.

anyways, back to the band wagon. i've noticed that a lot of my blogging buddies participate in a pink saturday, where you post some of your favorite pink things around the house. well! i'm all for pink! and since i have a plethora of pink pretties, i'm perfectly qualified to participate in this pleasant pasttime.(alliterative, much?) :-)

my apologies to the originator of pink saturday. if i knew who you were, i'd link to you. but you know who you are (prolly not even a reader of this blog) and that's all that counts, right?

after walking (okay, limping) around my house, taking pics of all things pink, i realized that there is no way in heck i could share it all in one post. so yes, virginia, there will be more pink posts to peruse. each item is special to me (or i wouldn't have it displayed in my home) and holds special memories for one reason or another. so i'm calling this post my memories in pink. hope y'all enjoy.

sweet old watering can from sue's cc booth. i think she said it's from belgium. love it

pink lovelies on my end table

love this lamp and lampshade. bought it while with The Girls

gorgeous crocheted doily. i keep it on the back of my loveseat. it's huge. and oh so yummy

one of many rose cups that i collect. show me a pink rose and i can't resist.

this beautiful lil set belongs to my daughter. she inherited it from her paternal grandmother. i get to enjoy it until she has a place of her own.

bought this piece a few years ago from sue's booth. one of my favorites of her creations. pink, paris-themed ... can it get any better?

pretties sitting pretty on my vintage secretary

i remember finding this eiffel tower ... already pink! the sweet lil girl clock came from f'burg trade days last year. she's adorable.

found this vintage rocker (already painted white and upholstered pink) at the antique store on the square in burnet, tx. bonnie spotted it first and pointed me to it. the pillow was a gift from jannetta. perfect!!

my lil bottle collection. the shelf is a sue creation.

sweet kit-kat clock i found at an estate sale. her eyes tick-tock, but not her clock. still. she's adorable.

the gorgeous box was a gift from bonnie. love it! i put an old picture of a woman and a rose in it, just for kicks. love these colors.

and here's miss vogue again. you've seen her recently if you visit my blog regularly. got her while shopping with The Girls in round rock/austin a couple of weekends ago. she's also on my right sidebar. i love the look of this lady!

some candlesticks and a vintage hat (from sue's booth)

a sweet pink rose sits among my vintage dinnerware

to die for black sugar bowl with pink rose! from a vintagesue treasure box! yummy!!

a cup from my mama's homer laughlin virginia rose set.

a sweet sassy pink ornie hanging on the eiffel tower ... where else?

a bouquet of pink roses ... background, a vintage tissue holder with pink roses painted on it.

pm/ps: (post-mortem/post-script) ... i got my lazy arse in gear, googled pink saturday and found the lady who is responsible for this nonsense. apparently you have to sign up to participate and there's a deadline (i screwed the pooch). though it's probably breaching all manner of bloggity blog etiquette, maybe i'll just host my own pink blog party and call it, er, terry lee's pinka-palooza. or pink pink, you stink! maybe think pink, y'all! okay. i'll work on that while i'm icing my foot.

love and hugs,
terry lee
