Out of My Gourd

hey y'all,

well, i was going to start this blog with something else ... but after a morning of irritating, agitating and downright frustrating phone calls with companies, medical offices, banks, etc. i am out. of. my. gourd (a little autumnal pun for you).

i'm not even sure what out of my gourd is, exactically. but you get the idea. i have spent the better half of this morning ON. HOLD. arghhhh!!!

for those of you who know me, you know that i despise being on the phone. i loathe it. i'm a texter, emailer and blogger. i don't mind short, perfunctory phone calls with friends or family. but i'd rather eat dog poop than do business on the phone.

sigh.

anyhow, now that my rant is over (for now), i've come to bloggie land to impart some very special news to you!

i will be at st. mary's church/school in temple, tx this saturday, oct. 23rd for their fall festival flea market. i hear from reliable sources (hi cindy!) that there will be over 30 excited vendors at the flea market (yes, including me) who'll be on hand to help you find that perfect SOMETHING that you want, need or simply must have!

if you read my blog, you'll know what kind of junk vintage collectibles to expect at my booth. if your tastes are simpatico with mine, then you do NOT want to miss it! wonderful vintage pieces, terrific prices and my smiling face. what more could you ax for? heh heh.

don't like my junque?! no worries. plenty of other vendors to visit. there will be something. for. everyone! and all proceeds go to a great cause.

and thus ends the news flash portion of today's blog.

i'd like to thank sue of vintagesue for the lovely box of vintage yumminess she sent my way last week. thanks, girl. you're the best.

see that darling lil girl?! sigh! and that vintage pink jewelry box!!

and dana, thank you for the GORGEOUS tote you made for me (a blog contest prize from dana's chicken scoop). i love it!!

how sweet and creative! what talent!

a close up

lots to do before saturday! as much as i love my stuff, i'm excited to see it move on to other loving homes ... folks who'll treasure and enjoy it as much as i did. which in turn makes room for the new junk for me to love!

junk in, junk out. it's the way my world goes 'round.

love and hugs,
terry lee

Counting Flowers on the Wall

hey y'all,

wow, the weather is really autumnal today! am lovin' it! and let me correct myself (!!!) on something i wrote earlier about texas trees. we DO have some beautiful trees that have leaves that DO change gorgeous colors in the fall. they just happen to be the exception rather than the rule (as opposed to the northland, as you yankees call it).

anyway, it's a lovely day (albeit a bit breeeezy) in central texas. wish you all could be here to enjoy it with me.

2/3 of the FAGs were out yard sale hopping this weekend. yes, hopping. you know, hop from one sale to the next. we lucked out a few times and found multiple sales in the same neighborhoods.

i found some fun treasures, but i'm proud to report that i also found some everyday, utilitarian items for pennies! such as a new, full bag of glue(gun) sticks for 10 cents and a ridiculously obscene amount of floral styrofoam for $1. i use a lot of it in the vases on my parents' and grandparents' headstones. bless their souls.

also picked up a few LPs for my retro stereo. a box set of the statler brothers ("smokin' cigarettes and watchin' captain kangaroo ... now don't tell me, i've nothing to do"), a box set of marty robbins (one of my mom's faves), a patsy cline and a couple more that i won't mention because well, what can you say about a k-tel record?! remember them?! heheh.

since it takes me about a bazillion years to upload my pics, i'll cease my jibber-jabbering and get to business. hope you enjoy.

love and hugs,
terry lee
this is prolly one of my fave pieces from the weekend. a 50 cent something-or-another. i don't really have a clue. looks like it had a top at one time. but i'm such a sucker for roses, i had to buy it and give it a loving home ...

i stuck a flower in it. lovely.

picked up this little cutie for 50 cents also. sweet pillow.

bonnie found this book for me. it has pages and pages of beautiful victorian pictures! below are just a sampling:

see?

ahhh, looks like love! am afraid he's gonna miss the apple!! yikes. ;-)

precious!

awww!! love this one! babies are sooo special. i think the FOB looks like a young bob hope, no?

lovely!

s'marvelous!

s'wonderful!

am running out of adjectives!

so let's go back to my whatchacallit. i'm in LOVE with this little thing!

okay, here's something unusual. not sure what you call it, but i'm certain it's meant to hang on your wall. and it's v. damn heavy. the guy who sold it to me (for $1) said it's from the 50s (??). he can say it's from outer space, but that doesn't make it true. however, it does look old and from that era. it has two little victorian-esque pics on the red velvet thingy in the middle. close ups below. i can see this piece all shabbied up with pink paint on the frame, glitter, pearls or other bling inside surrounding the velvet thingy. i don't like that velvet thingy. perhaps i'll cover it in glitter?? can you paint velvety thingies?!?!

pretty cool, eh?

i really like these pics.

am lovin' this sweeeet pink bag. it's actually a puppy carrier, but wasn't used for that. got it for $1.50!

25 years + love + junking = good times

hey y'all,

well, we moved on from birthday celebrations to wedding anniversary celebrations here in my neck of the woods.

my dear friend (and fellow FAG) jannetta and her hubby richard celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on sunday. congrats again, mr. and mrs. kattner!

i was honored and pleased to share in this celebration by helping with table decorations and being one of the photogs for the event. i think the bride and groom had a wonderful time with family and friends for this very special occasion.

now, on saturday, i did squeak in some junking. first stop, an estate sale here in killeen. found some v. sweet vintage linens and a precious pink kit cat klock from the 50s. woohoo! it's electric, so i plugged her in and sure enough, she worked! sold!

icing on the cake: the lady marked her down by half because one eye was wonky. i can fix that easily and was thrilled to take her home with me!

second stop was the garage sale at the bob gilmore senior citizens center. not much shakin' there, but i did spend all of 60 cents for some pretty hangers and a sweet vintage tablecloth.

october's almost here! can't wait for pumpkins and cooler weather and leaves changing colors ... not that it ever gets too cool or colorful here in central texas. but a girl can dream, no?

love and hugs,
terry lee
